Dede came in a roundabout way to being an artist. She grew up in Ireland and graduated in law from Trinity College, Dublin in 1993. Having practiced as a solicitor in Dublin and London she then spent some years in the flat racing world of Newmarket before following her heart and devoting her life to art.

Learning her initial skills at Lavender Hill Studios in London Dede went on to develop her own approach to painting through travels to Italy and New York.  Animals are her focus, especially dogs she meets day to day - she loves to portray traditional subjects in a more contemporary context or style. Her muses tend to be ‘dogs from the hood’ rather than pedigree aristos and posh pooches. They in turn capture her interest but to be expressed in her own humorous way rather than the rendering of formal portraiture. It is the attitude, the soul and engagement that interests her, not the outer and obvious beauty itself.

Cameo cattle, donkeys and cockerels also feature in Dede's work from the fields and farmlands of her homeland in Ireland and more recently near her studio in the inspiring Cotswold surrounds.
