ME, MYSELF & WHY

I came in a roundabout way to being an artist but I believe we have many chapters in us. Born in 1971, I grew up in Ireland and graduated in law from Trinity College, Dublin in 1993. Having practiced as a solicitor in Dublin and London over the years I then spent some time in the flat racing world of Newmarket before following the creative call and devoting the next chapter of my life to my art.

Learning my initial skills in the wonderful atelier community of Lavender Hill Studios I then felt my canvas and my life needed a little shaking up. I went on to develop my own approach to painting (pooches!) through travels to Italy and New York.

MORE ABOUT ME!

Prior to my most recent collaboration in November 2018 with Peter Curling and Mark Coreth for our wonderfully fun Dublin show, I had three solo London exhibitions, most recently in the Sladmore Gallery in 2016. I have regularly shown in art fairs in London and New York and my paintings are held in private collections in the US, UK and Ireland, from homes of legends of the turf to Long Island landlords who kindly put a roof over my head in exchange for portraits along the way. I have painted for HRH The Duchess of Cambridge, Hollywood royalty, and racing royalty too. You just really never quite know where this wonderful adventure will lead you….

It led me to the dogs - but also to publish my recent book The Creative, Covered (see here). It is the book I wish I had been given when starting out on this rewarding but sometimes challenging(!) and ever surprising path. And we've had a bit of fun along the way...
